The Finnish university of applied sciences landscape is quite homogeneous – similar imagery meets similar color schemes, driven by similar language and brand promises. Diak, however, is a different kind of university of applied sciences – we wanted to ensure that Diak’s unique positioning is seen, heard, and felt. Together with the people of Diak, we completely revamped the brand, from head to toe: a new visual identity and tone of voice meaningfully differentiates Diak from other universities of applied sciences. Diak believes in humanity and lets that belief be seen and heard. The brand story, visual identity, and the logo, inspired by the letters on the walls of the Diak campus designed by architect Stefan Ahlman (2016), provide the tools to communicate Diak’s distinctiveness to current and future Diak students and their stakeholders.
